Mission:

The school’s mission is to provide a rigorous academic program for college-bound students in a small, personalized setting that impels and supports students to use their minds well, to care for themselves and others, and to rise to the challenges and duties of citizenship.

Introduction:

The Springfield Renaissance School, an Expeditionary Learning School is a college bound middle-high school (grades 6-12) whose graduates will attend college or university. The school, which will ultimately enroll 600-700 students in grades 6-12, offers a rigorous academic program within a personalized learning environment, and prepares all students for success in college and beyond. Immersed in an ethos of service and team work, The Springfield Renaissance School students are challenged to take the reins of community leadership and to understand and meet the demands of the modern workplace. The school is a partnership between Springfield Public Schools and Expeditionary Learning Schools, and is funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Principal's Welcome:

Stephen R. Mahoney, Ed.D. PrincipalWelcome to our school’s website. I hope it helps you better understand and contribute to our learning community.

Our school is a work in progress. As we implement the school’s design and mission we remain committed to establishing a school that honors and respects our students, teachers and families. Every decision we make every program we create and every system we build is focused upon the quality of our relationships and their ability to support world-class teaching and learning.

Outward Bound’s founding educator, Kurt Hahn, wrote “there is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps, for the rest of our lives we will be unwilling to settle for less.” I look forward to your joining our journey.

!Si, se puede!
